Back in 2010 we had this idea to remix the GT-R shift knob with carbon fiber replacing plastic, and more exotic upholstery like Alcantara, high-end leathers and custom stitching. We were the first in the world to do it. Since then we’ve done quite a few crazy interiors, a ton of custom carbon fiber parts (50+ various pieces throughout the car), and a lot of other wild, one-off stuff. They are slow to make, all hand made and since they are custom they can’t be kept in stock. Various other hand made carbon fiber interior pieces however we do try to keep in stock for special projects.
For our carbon fiber interior pieces, we take factory Nissan parts and convert the outer surfaces to real carbon fiber. The process is much different, and much more OEM looking than the tape-on carbon pieces typically sold as it maintains the stock thickness of the parts, thus retaining the OEM feel of the buttons and switches on the steering wheel switch plate, mirror control and triple switch/hazard panels, for example. This service is offered for virtually any part on the GT-R, with the most often converted pieces being the dash vents, steering wheel switch plate and door handles.
We wanted to feature a small gallery of several of the interiors we’ve either completed in-house or for which we’ve supplied parts.

In a funny coincidence late last week, we happen to have two local customers both with 2017 GT-Rs schedule installation of aftermarket exhausts for their new toys on the same day.
The first car is a black 2017 with the luxurious optional Amber Red interior. The owner also had a modified 2014 GT-R, so upgrading the exhaust to a 94mm Greddy Supreme Ti on his brand new car (paper license plates and all) was nothing new for him.
Greddy’s Supreme-Ti is a full exhaust system (midpipe and rear section / catback) produced completely from high-quality titanium, with a 94mm main pipe.
Next came a good customer of ours who previously brought in his blue 2017 for a set of our exclusive Bulletproof Automotive Gold TE37 Ultra Wheels. As a connoisseur of premium tuning parts, nothing but the Overtake Saikou 100mm valved exhaust would do for him.
The Overtake exhaust is constructed of full STTI titanium for the maximum in weight savings, with the addition of an electronic remote-controlled valve system to allow the driver to choose between two “personalities;” valves-closed, quieter mode for around town driving, and a valves-open, louder mode for maximum flow and sound.
For more information on either of these exhausts, or if you’re ready to upgrade your 2017 GT-R, feel free to contact us: [email protected] or +1 213.745.6954
Our good friend and local customer, Peter recently brought in his Nismo GT-R for some small carbon fiber upgrades – an Overtake Dry Carbon Roof, Overtake Carbon Fender Vents and Emblems, and some Overtake Embems to cap it all off. Little did we know that these mods would kick start his shared love for Overtake’s premium quality parts! After a suspension failure on his other GT-R, a Black Edition, he came to us for some suggestions, and we collaborated with him on a plan to not only upgrade his B.E., but also further improve the handling of his Nismo. Since Peter is a professional race driver, instructor and overall track junkie, the Overtake x Sachs Super GT race-car derived suspension was the perfect option to take his Nismo to the next level.
The Overtake suspension is produced by Sachs in Germany (an OEM and highly respected race team supplier), and is directly related to [derived from] their offering for the Super GT Nismo race vehicles. Overtake offers their coilovers in several configurations, including 2-way and 3-way, and as an experienced race driver, Peter opted for the 3-way specification. (For reference, our SPL demo car also features the 3-way version, and our other client’s car – with the complete Overtake carbon fiber exterior, and custom interior – features the 2-way version.)
The Overtake pieces are a direct replacement for the OEM (obviously, as proper motorsports-grade dampers with multiple adjustments, the Nissan electronics are not retained). The dampers are produced in full aluminum, which we decided to put to the test against the OEM steel shock bodies when it came to weight:

As he’s a professional racing driver, Peter takes his Nismo to the track frequently; here’s a couple quick shots of the first suspension shakedown at Buttonwillow:
At HKS USA’s First Annual Speed Ring Event this past weekend, Peter won the Limited AWD Class Title with a time of 1’48”! He advised that his Overtake 3-Way suspension, paired with his new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires were the major contributing factors to his win. He felt the car definitely had the capability to go faster, but was limited by the factory cooling systems’ capabilities.

Not long ago we had a longtime friend/client from overseas approach us with a very special request for his GT-R. The client had ordered an Overtake dry carbon racing hood, which in and of itself is gorgeous as is; however he wanted something a bit more unique … something that would really take his build to the next level. He didn’t really know what but he knew he wanted something “special”. Knowing that we were well experienced in custom design and production of specialized parts, our client instilled his trust in us to come up with an amazing design idea and that’s just what we did.
After being tasked to create a special hood, our carbon composites and special projects engineers went to work. We spent countless hours analyzing, dissecting, and rebuilding a few designs for the hood until we finally came up with something that tied together an old concept with a more modern design and execution.
We had the idea of making a display window out of Lexan in the center of the hood. We could have just cut a hole in the center of the hood and laid a piece of Plexiglas in the center of it, but that wasn’t good enough for us so we decided to build upon that idea. Instead of having a flat surface with a hole filled with some see-through Plexiglas, our engineers created an entire functional cowl from scratch to house the piece of clear Lexan. The cowl was designed to also provide extra ventilation by having small air outlet ducts which sit behind the raised portion of cowl.
For testing and fitment purposes, we installed the hood on our full Overtake dry carbon shop GT-R. You can see the gorgeous Amuse x Overtake SAIKOU Titanium Surge Tank sitting right in the middle of the see-through Lexan.
All in all, we’re happy with the way it turned out…
