HKS VCAM SYSTEM STEP Pro without Valcon RB for R32 / R33 / R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R
The preferred choice for the RB26 is the newly released HKS V-CAM system not including Valcon type.
Components
- Special V-CAM shaft
- Variable valve timing unit (vane type controller for high torque, pulley with nickel plating)
- Intake side special cylinder head cover (HKS original casting product, no paint, includes special logo plate)
- V-CAM sensor harness (F-CON V Pro 3.4 connected terminal)
- Oil control valve (electromagnetic)
- Cam angle sensor (highly accurate type)
- Oil lines (between the hydraulic take-out section of the engine side and the cylinder head cover)
- Other parts
Specifications
- Opening Degree – 264º
- Valve Lift – 10.0mm
- Valve Timing – 80-130º
Necessary Parts
- Variable Valve Timing Control Unit – F-CON V Pro ver. 3.4 or VALCON type RB26
- CAM Shaft (EX) – 272º or above
- Valve Spring – Needs HKS enhanced parts
- Allowable Rotating Speed – 8800RPM
- Cylinder Head Modification – Yes, a process to secure the clearance of the cam lobe is needed
- Piston – HKS Piston (to secure the clearance between the valve and the piston)
- Oil Pump – Recommends HKS enhanced parts
- Engine Oil – Recommends HKS SUPER TURBO RACING 15W50 or HKS Racing Pro 10W50
- Timing Belt – Check the tension and amount of wear of each drive at 10,000km intervals and make any required changes.
- Other – If the viscosity of the fluid is not high enough, the hydraulic pressure may not have enough power to reach the wanted valve timing. When the water temperature goes lower than 60 degrees, it becomes impossible to get the more advanced valve timing.
Applications
- 1989-1994 Nissan Skyline GT-R – R32
- 1995-1998 Nissan Skyline GT-R – R33
- 1999-2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R – R34
Notes
- A HKS forged piston kit needs to be purchased separately for a billet hollow cam. Insufficient clearance between the valve and the piston can be caused by either polishing the cylinder surface or using a thin gasket.
About HKS
In October 1973, two driven and enthusiastic engineers aimed to design high-performance engines and components that were not available or had yet to be developed by major Original Equipment manufacturers.
Hiroyuki Hasegawa, previously employed by Yamaha Motor Company and accompanied by his partner Mr Kitagawa, successfully secured funding from Sigma Automotive Co. Ltd– hence the origin of the name “HKS” – to establish a business modifying fuel engine motors in a barn at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan.
One year after its invention, Mr. Hasegawa had developed the first turbocharger for standard automobiles, and his success has been constant ever since.
HKS stepped into the history books by developing an extensive range of unprecedented aftermarket performance parts, such as the first-ever electronic turbo timer and boost controller. Furthermore, HKS was credited with the production of piggy-back fuel computers and advanced fuel management equipment – causing HKS to be recognized as an innovator within Japan’s automotive industry.
Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.
