About HKS
HKS is widely recognized as one of the leading aftermarket brands globally.
Since its founding in 1973 by Hasegawa, Kitagawa, and Sigma, HKS has become a leader in the engineering and manufacturing of aftermarket high performance auto parts. HKS aims to create and produce turbo kits and engine components that exceed the quality of those offered by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
In October 1973
- Two ambitious and enthusiastic young engineers had an ambition to create and construct powerful engines and components that the primary Original Equipment Manufacturers could not or chose not to manufacture.
- Hiroyuki Hasegawa, a former engineer from Yamaha Motor Company, and his colleague Mr.Kitagawa, received an investment from Sigma Automotive Co., Ltd., which is where the name “HKS” comes from. The two started tuning gasoline engines in a shed that was located at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan.
One Year On
- Mr. Hasegawa constructed the first turbocharger specifically designed for passenger vehicles and has never looked back since.
- HKS pioneered the Japanese aftermarket performance industry by delivering a host of exciting new products, including the first commercially available electronic turbo timer and boost controller. Other early products included piggy-back fuel computers and sophisticated fuel management tools. Clearly HKS was Driving Performance trends for Japanese vehicles.
HKS Was Driving Performance Trends For Japanese Vehicles
- Since its inception, HKS has been devoted to providing effective, dependable and green performance systems. The company’s success is based on Mr. Hasegawa’s exemplary leadership, engineering expertise, ingenuity and openness to customer feedback. HKS monitors consumer feedback and input on matters related to material quality, look, sound quality, and, of course, performance. This helps HKS stay abreast of the desires of car enthusiasts. Furthermore, HKS designs its products to be user-friendly, allowing for simple installation.
- The automotive aftermarket sector is packed with new businesses aspiring to match HKS’ success. However, none can come close to having the same innovative engineering and production capabilities that the hardworking and devoted HKS personnel have access to.
- For more than 25 years, HKS products have been put to the test in a variety of motorsport disciplines, including drag racing, road racing, rallying and top speed trials. Numerous championships and records have been won or set by vehicles using race-ready HKS components, which has resulted in the brand being associated with high performance in the automotive aftermarket for over 35 years.
- HKS is ready to remain ahead in the competition of tomorrow’s technology and manufacturing with their brand new, 100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility situated near Mount Fuji. To further this ambition, HKS Europe was established to increase their racing engine development and production and uphold their “race on Sunday, sell on Sunday” philosophy. Numerous vehicles competing in the current Formula 3 series are being powered by HKS engines, and winning.
- HKS has grown to become a publicly traded business with an expansive sales and distribution network throughout Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas to suit its flourishing and steady global customer base. This is due to the fact that there is nothing that can compare to the performance, quality and dependability of HKS when it comes to engine, suspension and drive-train systems.
Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.
