GiroDisc Rear Replacement Rings for R35 Nissan GT-R
GiroDisc’s Rear Replacement Rings for R35 Nissan GT-R owners already running GiroDisc rear rotors are the consumable half of the two-piece system, a fresh pair of 380mm iron rings that bolt to the aluminum hats you already have. When the friction surface reaches its marked minimum, the machined hats stay on the car and only the iron is renewed. GiroDisc pours its own castings in the USA and finishes them in Bellingham, Washington, and every pair arrives with new mounting hardware so the float is rebuilt as GiroDisc assembles it new. On a GT-R that sees regular track days, they turn a worn rotor into a routine service rather than a full replacement.
Fitment and Installation
- These rings fit the GiroDisc A2-232 rear rotor, the same part on every R35 year. They are made for GiroDisc hats only; they will not mount to the factory rotor hats or to hats from another brand, even where the factory rotor is itself a two-piece design. The rings are handed left and right because of their curved vanes, and GiroDisc publishes a ring assembly guide covering the swap.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Do the GiroDisc Rear Replacement Rings for R35 fit the factory rotor hats? No. The GiroDisc Rear Replacement Rings for R35 are designed only for GiroDisc hats, from the GiroDisc A2-232 rear rotor. GiroDisc states that its replacement rings do not fit hats from other brands, including the hats on cars that came with two-piece rotors from the factory.
- What comes with the GiroDisc rear replacement rings? The rings are sold as a pair, one left and one right, together with replacement mounting hardware. The only parts reused from the existing rotors are the GiroDisc aluminum hats, so the drive pin hardware is renewed at the same time as the iron and the float is rebuilt to the original specification.
- When should the rear rings be replaced? GiroDisc marks the minimum thickness on the center hat and on the outer edge of the ring, and the rings are replaced once they reach it. Regular inspection matters on a car used on track, because GiroDisc treats rotors as consumable racing parts that should be checked for wear and damage on a schedule.
- Do these rings fit every R35 GT-R year? Yes, on cars running the GiroDisc A2-232 rear rotor, which fits every R35 year from 2007 to 2025. The front rings are different: 2012 and later cars use GiroDisc D1-232 front rings, and 2007 to 2011 cars use D1-249 front rings, because the front disc grew from 380mm to 390mm for 2012.
- Do new rear rings need to be bedded in? Yes. GiroDisc recommends a bedding procedure any time a new disc or friction material is introduced. The rings are bedded with light to moderate stops that bring the surface to about 700 to 800 F, followed by a cool down without dragging the brakes, and fresh pads are then bedded to the instructions from their maker.
About GiroDisc
GiroDisc designs, manufactures, and sells 2-piece, fully floating brake rotors for a wide range of performance vehicles. Every major component, including the hats, rotor rings, and drive pins, is manufactured in-house at their facility in Bellingham, Washington, from domestically sourced materials. GiroDisc rotors use a proprietary high-carbon iron ring formulated for superior metallurgy and thermal performance, paired with reusable machined-aluminum hats that reduce the long-term cost of maintaining a high-performance brake system. The 2-piece floating design sheds unsprung and rotating mass while remaining street-friendly, delivering race-proven braking for track and street use alike.
Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.
