GiroDisc 390mm Front Replacement Rings for R35 Nissan GT-R (2012-2025)
GiroDisc’s Front Replacement Rings for R35 Nissan GT-R cars from 2012 onward renew the 390mm iron on GiroDisc A1-232 front rotors while the aluminum hats stay bolted to the hubs. Renewing only the iron is the reason a two-piece front axle costs less to own over time, and the hardware that holds the float together comes new in the box. The castings are GiroDisc’s own, poured in the USA and machined in Bellingham, Washington, with the curved internal vanes that pull air through the disc under hard braking. A late GT-R that works its front brakes hard on track will go through rings long before it ever needs new hats.
Fitment and Installation
- These rings are for the 390mm GiroDisc front rotor fitted to 2012 and later cars and nothing else. They mount to GiroDisc hats only, not to the factory rotor hats or to hats from another maker, and the 2007 to 2011 cars, which run a 380mm front disc, take the D1-249 ring instead. The pair is handed left and right because the vanes are curved, and GiroDisc publishes a ring assembly guide for the swap.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which rotors do the GiroDisc Front Replacement Rings for R35 fit? The GiroDisc Front Replacement Rings for R35 fit the GiroDisc A1-232 390mm front rotor used on 2012 and later Nissan GT-R models, and they bolt to the existing GiroDisc hats. The 2007 to 2011 cars run a 380mm front rotor and need GiroDisc D1-249 front rings, a different part.
- Can these rings be fitted to the factory GT-R front rotor hats? No. GiroDisc designs its replacement rings for GiroDisc hats only and states that they do not fit hats from other brands, including hats from cars equipped with two-piece rotors from the factory. A GT-R on factory front rotors needs the complete GiroDisc 390mm front rotor first.
- What is included with the GiroDisc front rings? The rings come as a pair, one left and one right, with replacement mounting hardware. The only parts carried over from the existing rotors are the GiroDisc aluminum hats, so the drive pin hardware is renewed with the iron and the float is rebuilt the way GiroDisc assembles it new.
- When should the front rings be replaced? GiroDisc marks the minimum thickness on the center hat and on the outer edge of the ring, and the rings are replaced when they reach it. GiroDisc treats brake rotors as consumable racing parts, so a GT-R used on track should have its rings inspected for wear, fatigue and damage at regular intervals.
- Should fresh front rings be bedded before track use? Yes. GiroDisc recommends bedding whenever a new disc or friction material goes on. The rings are bedded with light to moderate stops that bring the surface to about 700 to 800 F, then cooled without dragging the brakes, and new pads are bedded afterwards to the instructions from their maker.
About GiroDisc
GiroDisc designs, manufactures, and sells 2-piece, fully floating brake rotors for a wide range of performance vehicles. Every major component, including the hats, rotor rings, and drive pins, is manufactured in-house at their facility in Bellingham, Washington, from domestically sourced materials. GiroDisc rotors use a proprietary high-carbon iron ring formulated for superior metallurgy and thermal performance, paired with reusable machined-aluminum hats that reduce the long-term cost of maintaining a high-performance brake system. The 2-piece floating design sheds unsprung and rotating mass while remaining street-friendly, delivering race-proven braking for track and street use alike.
Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.
