Kline Innovation Valvetronic Exhaust System for EBA-R35 Nissan GT-R
As swift as a supercar and as capable as a hypercar, the GTR holds the potential to outrank many esteemed supercar lineages. The vehicle’s 3.8L twin-turbo V6, a remarkable feat of modern engineering, possesses significant untapped potential beyond its factory-set 475hp. Naturally, the team at Kline showed an eagerness to craft the paramount GTR exhaust. Their criteria incorporated design adaptability and cross-section alignment to fit perfectly with the chosen power output, whether that be for a monstrous 1400hp beast or a more subdued 650hp daily ride. Kline offers the finest in materials and expertise to fulfill such ambitions.
Innovation
With the 3.8L V6 engine positioned at the GTR’s front, designing and constructing an exhaust system with exceptional sound and performance may seem relatively straightforward. Yet, at Kline, the pursuit of perfection is taken to heart, leading them to strive for unprecedented heights with their GTR exhaust. Their success lies in a blend of sophisticated design, relentless material selection, and detailed acoustic and fluid dynamic modeling.
Kline set the industry standard by introducing the world’s first GTR exhaust entirely made from Inconel 625, a Formula One grade material. Notably lightweight, their GTR system is among the lightest resonated 89mm systems globally. Inconel also promises impressive durability, boasting high thermal and chemical stability, and unlike titanium systems, it resists fatigue and cracking over time.
Sound
By replacing the quad 400-cell catalysts with either racing pipes or 100cpsi catalysts, they’ve amplified and enriched the sound while enhancing torque and power response. Exchanging the resonated y-pipe for a free-flow variant further accentuates the sound and lightens the exhaust. By enlarging and simplifying the rear silencer section, Kline effectively consolidated the volume of the three-silencer factory setup into a more efficient twin rear silencer design, further reducing weight. The rear silencers are volumetrically tuned to eliminate bass drone at cruising speeds while providing a rich, aggressive tone at high RPMs. Built from thin sidewall Inconel, with high latent resonant frequency, the sound leans into the treble frequencies, offering a higher pitched, more aggressive sound when desired. The sound emitted by Inconel is genuinely electrifying!
Performance
The racing version boasts a 48hp gain @ 6500rpm and a 73nm gain @ 3800rpm.
Stainless Steel
304-grade stainless steel, a popular choice in exhaust manufacturing, provides durability, thermal stability, cost-effectiveness, and fabrication ease. However, its significant weight and limited tensile strength can pose challenges when used in high-performance exhaust components. Furthermore, the requirement for thicker walls could potentially dampen the exhaust sound.
Inconel
On the other hand, Inconel 625, valued for its toughness and heat resistance, is commonly used to create critical components like high-performance jet engine exhaust turbine blades. It’s also the material of choice for Formula One exhaust systems and esteemed hypercar projects, including the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. Despite Inconel’s ability to withstand temperatures above 1000°C and its focus on lightweight design, it brings unique complexities due to its intricate machinability and specialized welding requirements.
Carbon Fiber
Carbon fiber reinforced polymer, with a remarkably high tensile strength-to-weight ratio, surpasses all metals. Components boasting high tensile strength and extreme lightweight can be molded into almost any shape. Kline uses exclusively aerospace and Formula 1 grade pre-preg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave at high pressure and temperature, to create the lightest and strongest carbon fiber suitable for the most extreme conditions.
Specifications
Cross Section:
Downpipes: Dual 76mm OD
Y-Pipe: Dual 76mm OD into single 89mm OD (available in either a racing version, or with 100cpsi HJS catalyst)
Rear Section: Single 89mm OD into dual 76mm OD Y section / Quad 63.5mm OD tail sections
These dimensions of their 89mm system, which is tailored to cater to a power range of 750-1000hp
The chosen dimensions are designed to preserve the cross-sectional area and gas velocity, ensuring the maximum efficiency of gas transition
This system is compatible with the OEM valve system
It’s vital to note that while some images may feature optional y-pipes and carbon fiber tips, these components are not typically included in the standard exhaust system package

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.
