The requirements set by our team of 7-second “Alpha X” GT-Rs demanded nothing less. If your GT-R generates power in excess of 1200 horsepower, particularly in hot weather conditions, the Alpha GT-R Race X Intercooler is the optimal choice for safe and efficient power production. Through rigorous testing, repeated evaluations, and a series of enhancements, this race-proven design, which has propelled our own vehicles to 7-second glory, has now been perfected and made available for your high-horsepower R35 GT-R.

• In order to achieve effective reduction of charged air temperatures, AMS implemented a vertical flow design, ensuring optimal cooling performance. The Race X intercooler boasts a substantial 22.2″ x 14″ x 6″ bar-and-plate core, offering an astounding 350% more volume compared to a stock pair of GT-R intercoolers. With a remarkable cooling surface area of 1800 square inches, the core features double the fin density of most intercoolers currently available in the market. This increased fin density facilitates enhanced contact with cool and dense air, resulting in unparalleled power output for your GT-R that will dominate the pavement. In rigorous testing on vehicles producing over 1700 wheel horsepower, we observed a remarkable 20°F difference at the end of the quarter-mile between our standard Race FMIC and the new Race X Intercooler.

• The Alpha GT-R Race X billet intercooler end tanks, meticulously designed by AMS’ Snailworks© engineering team, feature exceptionally smooth features and geometry to ensure optimal flow and achieve maximum horsepower. These end tanks are created using Solidworks© 3D CAD software, surpassing the flow capabilities of boxy sheet metal end tanks commonly found in inferior intercoolers produced by AMS’ competitors. The large end tanks are equipped with 3-inch CNC billet inlet and outlet ports, ensuring a seamless and tapered transition from the intake to the intercooler. To further enhance performance, AMS’ team has computer-designed precisely molded custom silicone couplers, providing perfect fitment and optimized geometry. These couplers improve airflow volume and velocity, resulting in unrivaled power without compromising response.

The Difference is in the Details

• Utilizing the GT-R’s ample frontal area to its fullest potential, this intercooler kit enhances the functionality of the stock intercooler shroud. To further optimize airflow, a bridge plate and shroud plates are included, creating a tight seal around the core. This seal ensures that cool air entering the shroud is directed through the core, effectively preventing air from escaping through the sides, top, and bottom of the intercooler. This meticulous attention to detail maximizes the efficiency and effectiveness of the intercooler core, a feature often overlooked by competitors. It is important to note that the installation of this intercooler requires cutting the factory crash beam and securely attaching the supplied beam plate through riveting or welding.
