This front mounting intercooler has been designed as an upgrade for the Nissan GTR R35 models. After considerable trials, we found that the most efficient for these models, was a core of tube and fin design, and along with an overall increase in dimensions we have been able to improve the cooling ability and reduce the pressure loss across when compared to stock intercoolers. Our own testing was conducted on software tuned vehicles, to ensure that they would be working their hardest and the results showed both a reduction in inlet temperature, an increase in horsepower and torque. The uprated intercooler is supplied with all parts required, including mandrel bent 70mm pipework, silicon hoses, all clips, bolts, and nuts together with comprehensive instructions.

To sum up the results: more torque all the way from 2500rpm to redline (apart from a 300rpm section from 4400-4700rpm where its about 5ft/lb less), more power all the way from 2500rpm to redline (ditto the 300rpm section). Peak torque remained relatively unchanged (+2ft/lb) but much more area under the curve, with a good 20ft/lb gain from 5500rpm, and a 40ft/lb gain at 3000rpm. Peak power the same, much more area under the curve and +11bhp at the top end.
Core size is 740mmx250mmx100mm (29.13in x 9.84in x 3.94in). Looks weird becuase its fully ducted into the bumper (stock ducting is discarded). Weighing all the parts removed and all the parts added, our complete setup also comes in about 0.9kg lighter, despite its size (core is heavier obviously, but pipework is much lighter). Temperature wise, ive only got data from the dyno, but we're seeing about 32 deg C max at the intercooler outlets on a dyno pull, vs. 43 deg C on the stock units. Our unit cools down quicker too. Ambient was 21 deg C. |
